The Community Resolution Center is a non-profit organization funded by the State Court Administration of the Michigan Supreme Court. The Center offers mediation service, which is a neutral party working through a process to help individuals in conflict come to a resolution.
Established in 1994, the center serves Midland County along with eight other counties in Michigan. An individual can receive a consultation through self- referral, by calling 989-799-5949 extension 1. The Center will reach out to both parties, introduce the process, and offer services. Engagement with services is voluntary unless ordered by the court. The cost of services is low or no fee for some individuals.
Some examples of conflicts could be neighborhood disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, issues between family members, caregiver or guardian issues, small claims cases, probate or general civil cases, domestic relations, divorce, and parenting time.
The process involves leadership by a third neutral party who brings all individuals together and allows each person in the conflict to speak out their thoughts and needs, along with their ideas for resolution, without interruption. The mediator does not make any decisions for the parties but helps the parties craft their own agreement.
If you or someone you know are caught up in what seems to be a dead-end dispute, we encourage you to consider this excellent resource available to Midland County residents. For more information, call 989-799-5949 or visit their website at www.mediation-crc.org.
