Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 – December 7th, with any changes in coverage made during that time effective January 1, 2022. Individuals with Medicare Prescription Part D or Medicare Advantage plans should compare their current plan with at least 2 other plans available for next year. During this important enrollment time, be extra cautious with your personal information.
During Open Enrollment you will notice a lot of promotional advertisements on television, radio and social media regarding Medicare options. You may also receive plan material in the mail and phone calls. Some television commercials are from companies not affiliated with Medicare and are not endorsed by any government agency.
Medicare will never contact you for your Medicare number or other personal information. Medicare will never call or visit you to sell you anything. You may receive calls from individuals promising you things if you give them your Medicare number, but don’t do it. Medicare can’t enroll you over the phone unless you call them.
Be cautious of advertisements, read up and do your homework. You don’t need to navigate Medicare alone. We are here to help.
You may call our Health Insurance Assistance Hotline at 989-633-3748 to request a worksheet to get the process started to compare plans for 2022. Senior Services staff and volunteers can provide Medicare assistance throughout the year and during Open Enrollment. We can answer your Medicare questions.
