Each year during the second week of July, we celebrate National Therapeutic Recreation Week—a time to raise awareness about the meaningful role recreation plays in the lives of individuals facing physical, mental, or emotional challenges. This year, we honor it from July 6-12.
Established by the National Therapeutic Recreation Society, this week shines a light on how recreational activities can promote healing, encourage connection, and support emotional and physical well-being. From music and art, to fitness, games, and sensory experiences, therapeutic recreation is about so much more than just fun—it’s a vital part of care that improves quality of life.
At Senior Services, we are proud to offer therapeutic programming every month at our Activity & Dining Centers and through Seasons, our adult day program for individuals living with memory loss, dementia, or chronic illness. These activities are designed to engage, inspire, and support each participant in a way that’s meaningful to them.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our talented staff at Seasons and across all five of our Activity & Dining Centers. Your thoughtful planning, creativity, and compassion bring joy and connection to so many. Whether you’re leading a craft, a music session, a trivia game, or a calming nature walk, you are truly making a difference.
As we observe this special week, we celebrate the power of recreation to heal, connect, and uplift—and the dedicated individuals who make it all possible.
