Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation in celebrating Older Americans Month—a time to recognize the contributions of older adults, highlight aging trends, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting healthy, independent lives.
The 2026 theme, Champion Your Health, emphasizes prevention, wellness, and taking an active role in your own well-being. From advocating for your health needs to staying active and connected, small steps can make a big impact on long-term independence and quality of life.
At Senior Services, we’re proud to support older adults across Midland County in championing their health every day. Our five Activity & Dining Centers offer welcoming spaces where individuals can connect with friends, explore hobbies, and build meaningful relationships—because social connection is just as important as physical health.
Nutrition also plays a key role in healthy aging. That’s why we provide balanced, delicious lunches planned by a registered dietitian, making it easier to enjoy nutritious meals without the stress of daily cooking.
Staying active is another important piece of the puzzle. We offer a variety of low-cost fitness programs designed to help participants build strength, improve balance, and maintain mobility—supporting independence at every stage.
For those who wish to remain safely in their homes, our Senior Safety Team provides practical support. Through the help of dedicated volunteers, we install grab bars, replace smoke detectors, and offer safety enhancements that make everyday living more secure.
This Older Americans Month, we invite you to take charge of your health and explore the many ways Senior Services can support your journey. Whether it’s sharing a meal, joining a class, or making your home safer, every step you take is a step toward a healthier, more independent future.
