Renoir
Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) was a French painter and a leader in the development of the Impressionist style. His early works were Impressionist views of real life – full of color and light. He celebrated beauty and feminine sensuality. By the mid-1880s, Renoir moved away from Impressionism and began to apply a more disciplined and formal technique to his portraits and figure paintings. In his later work, he emphasized volume, form, contours, and line rather than color and brushstroke. His last works became more personal and intimate including portraits of his wife and children.
