Blind and Low Vision Support Group
Mon, Nov 11th • 10:30-11:30 am
2nd Monday of each month
at Trailside
If you have been diagnosed with an eye condition causing low vision or blindness, or you have a family member who has, joining a support group may be the most important thing you’ll ever do! Cheryl Wade, a trained rehabilitation counselor and advocate, will facilitate the group. Discussions may cover topics including free services that are available to people with vision loss, assistive aids, helpful programs and learning to use other senses besides your eyes.
Cheryl was born blind and worked for the Midland Daily News for 20 years before leaving for Michigan State University to obtain her degree in disability studies in 2012. She has a guide dog, has begun a freelance writing business and has worked her way through the blindness system throughout her life. Cheryl began her advocacy work after returning to Midland and learning that many people who lose their vision receive no help or direction on what to do. She hopes to fill that gap.
Participants are welcome to stay for lunch after the group meeting. To make a lunch reservation at Trailside, call Vera at 989-633-3790 before 9 am that day.
Drop-in, no registration required. For more information call 989-633-3700.
