Lunchtime Learners: Meet Dolores Cassidy

Meet Dolores Cassidy:
Super Mom, Movie Distributor, and Entrepreneur

In 1949 William Cassidy, realizing his stomach ailments were serious, gave a crash course in the movie theater business to his wife and mother of their four young children. Upon his death she took over management of six theaters in Midland, Alma, and Saginaw at a challenging time. The Hollywood movie studios were dismantled and television was a growing competitor. Despite the odds against her, Mrs. Cassidy found creative ways to keep audiences coming to her theaters, expand her businesses, and raise her children who were her pride and joy. Come meet her at this living history program presented by Randi Kawakita.

Aim to arrive by 11:30 am in Trailside and after your table is called, take your lunch into room 160. The talk will begin as close to noon as possible and end by 1:00. Space is limited in the room, so please call ahead to reserve your spot and register for lunch at 633-3700. Lunches are by donation to those over 60, or $6 for those under 60. Please cancel your reservation if you or anyone in your household is sick.

After each Lunchtime Learners program, Allison Rossi Utter, Community Outreach & Volunteer Manager will be offering a tour of Trailside Center. If you’ve never taken a tour, this would be a great opportunity to see all that Senior Services has to offer!
