Lunchtime Learners:
Planning Ahead So You Can Protect Your Future
Fri, Nov 1st • 12-1 pm
at Trailside
Formed in 2015, the Midland County Vulnerable Adult Network (MCVAN) is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to addressing the complex and often-underreported issue of elder abuse. Comprising of a diverse group of professionals—including Adult Protective Services, Law Enforcement, Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Senior Services, MyMichigan Health, the Office of Public Guardian, Midland Health Department, Weiler Law Group, Veteran’s Services, and various local housing and care facilities—the Collaborative strives to ensure effective investigations and prosecutions of abuse. By leveraging the expertise of its members, the group works to provide comprehensive support and protection for vulnerable adults.
In addition to its investigative and prosecutorial efforts, the Collaborative is committed to raising awareness and educating both professionals and community members about the signs, symptoms, and treatment of vulnerable adult abuse. We must however go beyond education and surveillance. Individuals are not inherently vulnerable. In this session, you will learn which agencies or organizations in our community can help, and what you can do to plan ahead and protect your future. Through its coordinated approach, the Midland County Vulnerable Adult Network seeks to make a significant impact on the well-being of vulnerable adults and enhance community engagement in combating vulnerable adult abuse.
Aim to arrive by 11:30 am in Trailside and after your table is called, take your lunch into room 160. The talk will begin as close to noon as possible and end by 1:00. Space is limited in the room, so please call ahead to reserve your spot and register for lunch at 633-3700. Lunches are by donation to those over 60, or $7 for those under 60. Please cancel your reservation if you or anyone in your household is sick.
After each Lunchtime Learners program, we will be offering a tour of Trailside Center. If you’ve never taken a tour, this would be a great opportunity to see all that Senior Services has to offer!
Reserve your spot by calling 989-633-3700.
