Learn to Communicate Better to Help Your Loved One Stay Active and Engaged
Tues, May 18 • 1-3 pm
In-person at Trailside or Online via Zoom/Dial-in
This class will provide family caregivers an opportunity to learn the basics of Motivational Interviewing, a proven method for increasing engagement. When practiced by caregivers, Motivational Interviewing can help a care recipient become more active and involved in their health and well-being. Participants will learn practical strategies to help encourage and inspire care recipients to be more physically active, participate in rewarding activities, improve their diet, tidy up around the house, and more.
Dedicated to improving wellbeing, Kathy Snyder serves as the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition Coordinator in cooperation with the Midland Community Success Panel. In addition to over 25 years of experience in education, she holds master’s degrees in both counseling and applied positive psychology. She is also certified in Creating Positive Change, Bounce Back Better Resilience, Flourishing Skills Group, Inclusion and Diversity, and Coaching and is trained in Design Thinking, Motivational Interviewing, and Appreciative Inquiry.
Class will be offered in-person and via Zoom/Phone simultaneously.
Senior Services will be offering in-person classes and activities with a required mask, temperature check, screening form, and physical distancing. Please strongly consider enjoying class from home if you have not had an opportunity to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. We will enjoy welcoming you on-site once your vaccinations are complete.
