In-person at Trailside

Join educator (and Civil War buff) Mike Trebilcock for an interactive program looking at all aspects of the American Civil War – from its causes to its legacy and memory. Anyone with an interest in the Civil War – expert and novice alike – is encouraged to attend.
Billy Yank and Johnny Reb
The soldiers of the North and South – Billy Yanks and Johnny Rebs – were typical, average Americans who bore the mightiest of responsibilities for four bloody years. They bore the burden so well that we remain in awe of their courage, dedication, and endurance.
The Civil War required courage and a willingness for self-sacrifice. Billy Yanks and Johnny Rebs faced those challenges directly, and they gave of themselves in ways that still inspire feelings of wonder and humility amongst us.
This program will look at those typical, average Americans who gave so much, who endured hardships we can hardly believe, and who died in numbers too awful to comprehend. Topics will include why so many volunteered, what they said they were fighting for, what camp life was like, why Civil War combat was so deadly, and the primitive nature of medical care.
Reserve your spot below or by calling 989-633-3700! Online registration is available up until 2 hours prior to the program start time. If you are attempting to register less than 2 hours prior, please call 989-633-3700 for assistance.
