April 1865 – The End
Thursdays,

April 1865 was the final month of the Civil War dominated by Lee’s surrender to Grant and the tragic assassination of President Lincoln.
In this program we will discuss the key events that led to the collapse of the Confederacy and the end of the Civil War – the Appomattox Campaign, Lincoln’s visit to Richmond, the surrender at Appomattox Court House, Lincoln’s assassination, the manhunt for John Wilkes Booth, and the final surrender of Confederate forces to General Sherman in North Carolina.
Trailside Civil War registrants: Please enter through the main entrance or by the library and proceed directly to room 160. There will be an extra lunch sign-in sheet there so that you will not need to enter Trailside until after the program. This helps our Line Dancing group that meets in Trailside at the same time to remain uninterrupted. Thank you!
