By Amy Sheridan, Family Support & Activity Manager at Seasons Adult Day
Seasons offers opportunities for participants to enjoy some sun and get their hands dirty! Our beautiful courtyard offers much more than just a nice place to relax outdoors. Participants can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the walking loop, help feed the birds and squirrels or work in the garden beds.
We have a huge variety of perennial flowers growing in our garden. We use these to enhance the inside of Seasons by providing fresh cut flowers on the tables. This provides an opportunity for flower arranging and sensory activities.
Our four raised garden beds are designed to be handicap accessible so individuals who have trouble bending over or use a wheelchair can easily access them. Besides perennials, we raise many vegetables and herbs including cucumbers, snap peas, bell peppers, tomatoes, zucchini and chives. When ready to harvest, staff will offer the produce to participants to enjoy in the center or to take home with them.
Seasons Adult Day Health Services is a therapeutic enrichment program held during the day in a group setting. It is for individuals living with a chronic illness, changes in memory or with a dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. The environment is comfortable, safe, interactive and socially engaging.
