The Friday Mid-Michigan Industries (MMI) Group is being recognized as July Volunteers of the Month for their dedication, teamwork, and caring service delivering Meals on Wheels in Coleman. This group of young adults works together every Friday to make sure meals are delivered to people in the community who depend on them. Tracey Wright, Coleman Site Manager, shared, “Having the MMI group join our Meals on Wheels and Center volunteer team has been a blessing to the Coleman community. We are truly appreciative of their purpose-driven attitudes and desire to help where their skills are needed.”
No matter what the weather, the Friday MMI Group is ready to help. Every member of the group has an important job that makes the deliveries run smoothly. John rides in the front seat and manages the writing and paperwork for the route. Jamie and Casey carefully pass out the hot meals, so they are ready for delivery. Two other team members get out at each stop to deliver the meals directly to clients. The experience has made a lasting impact on the group members. Asked about the first time they volunteered, Kasie shared, “It was amazing. The people were so nice. It was great to help the elderly who cannot get out of their home.” Christina added, “Shannon is an amazing job coach. She drives us around and makes it happen.”
When asked what they would say to someone thinking about volunteering, Jonathon responded, “Just give it a shot. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to continue.” He further added, “I didn’t think I would like it but now I love it!” Sean chimed in, “It helps all of us, gets us out of our shells.”
Their hard work, kindness, and commitment show what volunteering is all about. Thank you, Friday MMI Group, for serving the community and making a difference every week through Meals on Wheels delivery.
