On November 19th, during a heartfelt ceremony at Ingersoll Township, Hall, World War II U.S. Army veteran, Ray Terwillegar was awarded the French Legion of Honor in appreciation of his U.S. Army service that helped liberate France from Nazi occupation almost 80 years ago.

Retired history teacher and Education Program Assistant at Senior Services, Mike Trebilcock provided a poignant overview of World War II, integrating the service timeline of Ray Terwillegar, a 101-year-old U.S. Army veteran. Trebilcock’s reflections set the stage for the awarding of the French Legion of Honor to Terwillegar by French Consul General Yannick Tagand, recognizing his courageous role in liberating France from Nazi occupation.
