Senior Services of Midland County is proud to announce the appointment of Jessica Sargent as its new Executive Director. Sargent succeeds Charlie Schwedler, who is retiring after 9 dedicated years of service and leadership to the organization and the Midland community. Sargent brings more than 15 years of experience in leadership, advocacy, and program development serving older adults across Michigan.
Before joining Senior Services of Midland County, Sargent served as Director of the Saginaw County Commission on Aging, where she successfully led two millage campaigns, expanded vital programs, and championed community partnerships to enhance the quality of life for older adults and their families. Under her leadership, the agency achieved significant growth in funding, services, and engagement opportunities for older adults.
“Jessica’s leadership experience and passion for serving older adults make her a perfect fit for our organization,” said Matthew Beyer, Board President of Senior Services of Midland County.
Throughout her career, Sargent has demonstrated a strong record of innovation and collaboration. Her initiatives have included launching new meal service programs, modernizing case management systems, expanding transportation options through environmentally friendly electric vehicles, and building partnerships that connect generations through volunteerism and education.
“I am truly honored and excited to join Midland Senior Services. I want to thank the board for their thoughtful and engaging interview process and for entrusting me with this role. I look forward to working closely with our incredible staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure every older adult in our community feels valued, supported, and celebrated. Together, we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve,” said Sargent.
“I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jessica for years, and I couldn’t be more excited about her appointment,” said Schwedler. “Her experience, leadership, and heart for our mission will be a tremendous asset to our agency.”
Midland Senior Services extends its sincere gratitude to Charlie Schwedler for his years of leadership and commitment, which have left a lasting impact on the organization and the community it serves.
