Senior Services will be presenting an innovative workshop for individuals who provide care for a family member with dementia. The two-part series, Working Through Challenges, will be held from 1:00pm-3:00pm on Tuesday, February 17 and Tuesday, March 3 at Senior Services, 4700 Dublin Ave. in Midland.
Caring for a loved one experiencing dementia comes with its own set of challenges. In the first session, caregivers learn how to respond positively when faced with a challenging situation. They will learn about different types of behaviors, fundamentals of successful interventions, and new approaches to prevent future behavioral disturbances.
The second session will have caregivers use the information offered in part one of the series, and put the techniques into action. Senior Services’ adult day program mangers, Erin Wallace and Monica Bissett, will work through actual challenging situations caregivers are faced with, and offer a realistic, individualized approach. To get the most out of this series, participation in both sessions is strongly encouraged.
This series is open to all. However, if you are caring for another person and are not previously registered with Senior Services as a caregiver, please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a brief form. Call 989-633-3700 to register. We regret to inform you that we are unable to accommodate professional and/or paid caregivers at this event. Light refreshments will be provided. Respite scholarships may be available. If requesting respite care, notify when registering.
