Jeff Maxwell has been chosen as our Volunteer of the Month for October. Jeff has been volunteering since November 2018 accumulating over 470 hours! Why does he volunteer? “Like many others, I want to make a positive difference in the world,” Jeff says, “I’m a Christian and it’s important to walk my talk.” And what does Jeff get out of his volunteering? “The interaction with people. It makes me smile, makes me hopeful and gives me a sense of joy. They bless me.” Trish Brown, Transportation Manager, says, “Jeff is always happy with a smile on his face. He makes sure that each person is taken care of with a smile. He is very kind, caring and thoughtful. And he always asks me how things are going and if he can help in any way.” To encourage others to volunteer, Jeff says, “You are not only helping others, you are helping yourself.”
Jeff and his wife Jan have three children and six grandchildren, all of whom live in Michigan. Jeff is a retired pastor and he also volunteers as a “way-finder” at Saginaw Covenant Hospital one day a week. He says, “I want to be a plus and not a minus!.”
Transportation Drivers use agency vehicles to take older adults to mostly medical appointments within Midland County. Drivers must have a good driving record and a kind and courteous attitude toward our clients. We offer “door to door” service with an arm to lean on! Senior Services is in need of Meals on Wheels drivers, Transportation drivers, Handyman and Friendly Visitor volunteers. If you choose to volunteer with us, you will be embarking on a rewarding adventure that will have a huge impact on the older adults of Midland County!
