Many Seasons participants find great pleasure in interacting with our two in-house pets. Does Seasons have a dog and a cat? Well…. yes and no. They certainly look, feel, and act like real pets, but without the feeding, clean-up, allergy issues, etc., that come with them. Companion Pets are designed to bring comfort, companionship and fun to elder loved ones. With realistic fur, pet-like sounds, and sensors that respond to petting and hugs with familiar pet-like actions, Companion Pets deliver soothing, joyful experiences that inspire smiles, laughter and fond memories for people of all ages. Many participants love to pet the cat and are instantly calmed by holding it and feeling the rhythmic purring. Similarly, the dog has a soothing heartbeat and receives much loving attention.
We are very fortunate at Seasons to also have regular monthly visits from three therapy dogs: Duke, Izzy and Billy. These visits bring back great memories of having and taking care of pets as well as comfort and unconditional love.
Additionally, Seasons has the pleasure of hosting some special animal groups such as Town’s End Clydesdales and the Wildlife Recovery Association.
Seasons Adult Day Health Services is a therapeutic enrichment program held during the day in a group setting. It is for individuals living with a chronic illness, changes in memory or with a dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. The environment is comfortable, safe, interactive and socially engaging.
