An interactive afternoon with the Friends of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail and other local vendors, where you’ll have an opportunity to spend time on the Hall of Fame trail with other outdoor enthusiasts, while also gaining insights into the latest and best technology and accessories to optimize your time, health, and safety on the trail. The event will include a Lunchtime Learners talk, a guided hike and bike ride, and vendor booths. Light snacks and beverages will be available for you to enjoy.

An Introduction to Biking and Hiking • Sept 19 • 12-1 pm
The Friends of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail will join us to share and discuss the physical and mental health benefits of regular use of our Hall of Fame Rail Trail for fitness, recreation, and social engagement. The Friends will be joined by other local vendors to provide information and recommendations on the different types of equipment and accessories for enjoyment of the trail; including a Bike Shop who will highlight the different types of bikes available for use on the trail; a local Runners shop who will provide information on different types of shoe technology for various types and levels of activity; and a local Physical Therapist who will share insights on recommended exercises and stretches to prepare for a day on the trail. Enjoy a one-mile guided walk to Duck Hunters Memorial, or Northwood University, with knowledgeable guides sharing information about the trail’s history, local flora/fauna, and important safety tips while on the trail. Meet by the Pavilion behind Senior Services, drop-in, no registration required.
Guided Bike Ride • Sept 19 • 1:30 pm
Check out one of our 3-wheel bikes, bring your own, or try a loaner bike from a local bike shop and join a guided bike ride! We will adjust the length of the ride to the interest of the participants. Meet at the 3-wheel bike rack behind Senior Services, drop-in, no registration required.
