George and Judy Vogel, Transportation Drivers, have been chosen as our Volunteers of the Month for April. Judy has been driving for Senior Services since 2007! Judy chuckles, “I talked George into it and he joined me two years later.” Judy had been transporting clients for the Department of Health and Human Services. She was referred to the agency by a friend. Trish Brown, Transportation Manager, speaks very highly of the Vogels. “George and Judy are a great team that support our clients getting to important places. Every month Judy signs George and herself up for dates that need drivers. Both are very attentive to client needs and provide assistance as appropriate. They deserve to be the Volunteers of the Month.”
George and Judy are originally from the Mt. Pleasant area. They moved to Midland in 1959 when George accepted a job with Dow Corning. Judy worked as an Office Assistant. In May, they will be married for 65 years. They have 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Judy enjoys making Quilts of Valor. They are avid birders and have traveled extensively to pursue that passion.
Transportation Drivers use agency vehicles to take older adults to destinations within Midland County. Drivers must have a good driving record and a kind and courteous attitude toward our clients. We offer “door to door” service with an arm to lean on! Why would the Vogels encourage others to volunteer for Senior Services? “It is a satisfying job, very rewarding.” George says. Judy states, “The staff are outstanding. It is a delight to work for them. The clients are so appreciative. It brings me great satisfaction and makes me feel good.”
Thank you, George and Judy, for your many years of service to the older adults of Midland County and Congratulations on being chosen as Volunteers of the Month!
